Dermalogica’s BioSurface Peel takes Skin Health to New Depths

The cooler months are now upon us making it the perfect time to start repairing your skin after the amazing New Zealand Summer we have just had.

After Summer our skin craves exfoliation and hydration. As much as we love the sunshine and vitamin D, our harsh rays and months of sunscreen can leave our skin feeling a bit blah…congestion, dehydration and texturized or slightly rough skin.

This is where the BioSurface Peel comes in.

What’s the difference between a BioSurface Peel & any other chemical peel?

Some chemical peels can be very aggressive and can work against the skin. The BioSurface peel however, developed by the scientists at Dermalogica, is a powerful resurfacing treatment that has been designed to produce visible results without any of the side effects of an aggressive chemical peel or any downtime.

How does the BioSurface Peel work?

The BioSurface peel is a four part system which carefully breaks down and exfoliates the top layer of your skin. Ingredients such as salicylic acid, lactic acid, pumpkin fruit extracts and sugar cane extracts promote the peeling process, soften and smooth your skin and instantly reveal a brighter and more hydrated complexion. Each treatment is customised to your skin based on your skin type and sensitivity to ensure the best result.

Who is this treatment good for and how many do you need?

This treatment is amazing when it comes to wanting to clear breakouts, reduce pigmentation, stimulate cell turnover, produce collagen and minimise fine lines associated with dehydration and skin ageing. If you are wanting to treat a particular skin concern such as acne or pigmentation, we would recommend doing a series of 4-6 treatments every 1-2 weeks over a two to three month period. Or as a maintenance treatment we would recommend having a BSP once a month (avoiding the summer months).

We also recommend making sure your skin barrier is strong ahead of your first peel. This means ensuring your skin is well hydrated and keeping it out of the sun for a few weeks prior to avoid any sensitivity following the peel.

Post peel it’s essential you keep your skin protected from UV rays and stay super hydrated. Skin may feel slightly sensitive and a small amount of peeling may occur so keeping it nourished and moisturised is key.

We absolutely love this treatment as it provides great results and in very little time. Taking anywhere from 30-45 minutes this is a perfect results-based skin treatment for clients limited on time.

Gemma, Manager at our Belmont Salon and Dermalogica Skin Expert, says “In a nut shell – I can’t get enough of this treatment! Not only because of what it does for my own skin but how I noticeably get to see visible improvements and results on my client’s skin. It’s the best feeling for a skin therapist. When you come in for your first treatment your therapist will get you to complete a consultation form so we can ensure that this facial is right for you”.
